'I have always had an evolving interest in human behaviour. In my work I explore the unconscious mind and adapt psychological theories to perform in a visual art context, taking myself as a direct case study.
In the middle of 2017, I was thrust into a state of trauma and grief after the sudden death of a close loved one. Ammo Veil refers to the combined presence of protection and vulnerability I acquired in the process of dealing with the grief. The only way to fight it is to embrace it.
After some time, I was able to seek refuge in my work, however, the signature bright colours, optimism and layers had disappeared. The structure and control of embossing plain white paper allowed me to start again where I had nothing to hide behind. The purpose an repetition of this action became a type of therapy, where eventually I let go of guilt and conceded to colour again.
Ammo Veil is the journey of grief and getting back to full colour.
